ELECTRONIC-PUNK BAND, POSR TO BE RELEASED June 2, 2010

Austin-based POSR knows what you want and desire. They have just what you need to get on the dance floor and shake it all night. The band that brought you “Cocaine Nose Job” is back and is bringing you a taste of the good stuff with their release, “FIX,” the latest single off their forthcoming album Known Unknown, to be released by Houston’s Tierra Studios in summer 2010.

POSR, the latest musical brainchild of world renowned dance music producer Jake Childs, showcases Childs’ edgy post-punk vocals riding over a wave of pulsating, driving beats, with support by Illson and Chris Casual on basses, and Adam Warped programming keys and synths.

“Who knew that Oklahoma City was busy releasing the biggest bangers?” asks blogger discoworkout. Well, we all know now! “FIX” features remix work by the Midwest duo Kids At The Bar. Kids At The Bar have been busy making a name for themselves in the dance scene with numerous club-banger remixes filled with up-beat drums and dirty, thrashing synthesizers. Their remix of “FIX” is no exception and it fuses high energy beats with dark, throbbing synth’s. “FIX” will be in DJ crates and heard on dance-floors worldwide.

As if that wasn’t enough, POSR has also tapped Japanese producer Kaz Nishimura for his re-envisioning of “FIX.” Hailing from the Land of the Rising Sun, Kaz blends choppy synth’s with an early 90’s breaks feel. This track will get your heart pumping and your butt moving!

“FIX is definitely a hard hitter in my life,” says Jake Childs. “It’s about the circle of nonfulfillment of want. We are always tricking ourselves with the ‘the grass is greener’ syndrome, and that vicious cycle leads us down the path of nonfulfillment and discontent. It’s like filling a void with even more void. ‘FIX’ reminds me to be content in what I do.”

“For remixing, I wanted to call on some rising stars and it HAD to be Kids At The Bar and Kaz Nishimura,” says Childs, “Their remixes are just hot! Definitely ones to watch out for!”

Austin-based POSR is poised to revolutionize dance floors and playlists with the release of “Cocaine Nose Job,” the first single off their forthcoming album Known Unknown, to be released by Houston’s Tierra Studios late spring/early summer 2010.

POSR, the latest musical brainchild of world renowned dance music producer Jake Childs, showcases Childs’ edgy post-punk vocals riding over a wave of pulsating, driving beats.

“Cocaine Nose Job” also features a “Blogula” remix by the world famous musical tastemakers Larry Tee and Alexander Technique. Larry Tee is well known for his effort in coining the term “electroclash” as well as launching the careers of many of New York based artists including RuPaul, Scissor Sisters, Fischerspooner, and Avenue D.

“When we started our blogula mix of ‘Cocaine Nose Job,’ we realized we were gonna have to go deep into our electro roots and drag some noise out,” says Tee. “But since electro alone isn’t a radical formula anymore, we are blasting in elements of a sticky bottom end, and a grindy new electronic weeze designed to make the floor go OFF.”

“For the remixes, I wanted to call upon a legend in the electroclash movement, and that would be Larry Tee,” says Childs. “He’s definitely a huge inspiration in attitude and the stuff he spins has hipped me onto a lot of new sounds and talents. PLUS HE’S A F@%$ING LEGEND! Viva electroclash!”

“Materialism is a beautiful thing, but it also can be a dangerous thing if you let it fully overtake you,” says Childs, “but so can be said true of non-materialism.” POSR is “id vs. ego in its purest form.”

The infamous Adam Warped has a new band and they’re called POSR. They make kinda of indie elctronic electro punk new age country easy listening hardcore-straight edge kinda music… I dunno. As they say “don’t label me”. Whatever you wanna call it. There music is definitely more than worth checking out. There’s free music, dj mixes and all sorts of good stuff on their blog.

POSR signed a record deal with Houston’s Tierra Studios in May and plans to release the single “Fantasy,” as well as Empire’s remix, in October. The single will give music fans a taste of the dark beats, raw bass and self-perceptive lyrics of POSR’s debut album, Known Unknown.

Jake Childs, the producer, songwriter and vocalist behind POSR, said he chose to approach Empire for a remix because of his work in the 1990s with Atari Teenage Riot. The innovative band is accredited with creating the digital hardcore subgenre, characterized by hard breakbeats, punk-influenced guitar riffs and ear-ripping noise.

“Alec Empire has been a huge influence on the electro-punk movement,” Childs said. “I feel very honored that he would remix ‘Fantasy.’ I can’t wait for this, and I know he’ll do a really good job, because he’s Alec Empire.”

In addition to Empire’s fame from touring the world with Atari Teenage Riot, he is an accomplished producer and solo performer under multiple monikers. He founded Digital Hardcore Recordings and Eat Your Heart Out Records, and has toured alongside world-renowned artists such as Wu-Tang Clan, Rage Against The Machine and Ministry. A prolific artist, Empire has released an album nearly every year since 1992, including the 2009-released album Shivers.

“I always look for new and exciting projects and bands because I love wrapping my mind around a musical idea. I create from there before it’s established everywhere,” Empire said. “I get sent a lot of remix requests, but I only do it when the music jumps at me and I feel that I can bring out another side of the artist. With POSR this was the case, no doubt.”

POSR’s music and lyrics are characterized by Childs’ explorations into the duality of self: good vs. evil, right vs. wrong, the conscious vs. the unconscious personalities that exist simultaneously in a sometimes schizophrenic-like state. Childs, who also enjoys a successful career touring the globe as a tech-house DJ, is joined in the electro-punk band by Illson on “dirty” bass and guitar, Chris Casual on “clean” bass, and Adam Warped playing keys and DJing a laptop loaded with original synths and drums that Childs produced.

POSR executive producer Traey Hatch of Tierra Studios said he views Alec Empire’s involvement as a tribute to electro-punk music’s history and a blessing from the artist who continues to innovate in the genre.

“Alec’s music has moved butts and assaulted crowds all over the globe, and we’re truly excited to hear what he has in store for POSR,” Hatch said. “This will give ‘Fantasy’ and the Known Unknown album some immediate recognition and credibility because it exposes POSR to people who have loved Alec’s music for a long time.”
