illson celebrates birthday
Illson, bass and guitar player for Jake Child’s POSR, celebrated his birthday on Saturday, May 2nd, following Tierra Record’s announcement that POSR had joined the label.
Tierra Record’s is a small, independent label operating out of Houston, Texas.
“That was as good a birthday as the one when I got three cakes in one day,” illson was quoted saying. “Sweet – just like this deal,” He further added.
He celebrated by first attending the all day block party ‘Praia Urbana,’ held in and around the historic Houston venue, The Last Concert Cafe. It was the 12th Praia Urbana organized by the East End Boys, and featured DJ David Tort from Spain.
He then bartended at Notsuoh, a venue owned by notorious Houston performance artist Jim Pirtle. Music was provided by the Austin-based Hotel Hotel, an ambient improvisatory group comprised of violin, guitar, bass and drums.
Asked what was in store for the immediate future, he replied “I’m looking forward to a trip to California to see The Dead, which is the Grateful Dead minus Jerry Garcia. I want to experience what their concert is like, which is legendary for the humane way their fans are always handled – so I hear. Plus i want to see their bass player Phil Lesh, who I really admire; as a bass player but also as a knowledgeable musician and articulate person.”
There’s also going to be a Taurus party at the Oakland warehouse I’m staying the day after my arrival. These are people who create flame-throwing installations in Burning Man, great friends – I think it’s going to be epic!”

DOPE!~ i hope u enjoyed yer self brotha!
